Gold Recovery Activated Carbon — Specification Sheet
Use this printable checklist when comparing quotes for gold recovery carbon (CIP/CIL). It lists the parameters to verify, the values we ship, and the documents to ask for.
1. Core Parameters (Verified per Lot)
| Parameter | Value We Ship | Test Method |
|---|---|---|
| Raw material | 100% coconut shell (Philippines/Indonesia) | — |
| Iodine value | 1000–1300 mg/g | GB/T 12496.8 / ASTM D4607 |
| Hardness | ≥98% | GB/T 12496.6 / ASTM D3802 |
| Moisture (as packed) | ≤5% | GB/T 12496.4 |
| Ash | ≤5% | GB/T 12496.3 |
| Mesh size | 6×12 / 8×16 mesh or 3×6 mm | GB/T 12496.2 / ASTM D2862 |
| Bulk density | 0.45–0.52 g/mL | GB/T 12496.1 / ASTM D2854 |
Verified ASTM performance data (measured per lot):• Abrasion resistance — ASTM D3802: retention rate ≥ 98.2% after 30 mins agitation test (ball-pan hardness ≥ 98% as shipped).• Iodine value — ASTM D4607: 1000–1300 mg/g, batch tested.• Apparent density — ASTM D2854: 0.45–0.52 g/mL (same property as GB/T 12496.1 bulk density above).Representative batch data — final specifications per the official Certificate of Analysis (COA) issued with each shipment (in-house QC re-test on request).
Spec tolerances on every contract: iodine ±50 mg/g of target, hardness at/above agreed minimum, moisture ≤5%, fines within agreed range.
Standard compliance: Produced and tested against the key requirements of YS/T 3038—2020 (Granular Activated Carbon for Gold Production).
K-value / R-value (gold adsorption dynamics): K-value (equilibrium gold loading capacity) is 8–12 kg Au/t (≈ 8–12 mg Au/g) in high-grade circuits, and R-value (2-hour gold adsorption rate) is 52–58% of equilibrium loading within 2 h in a standard ~1000 ppm Au cyanide solution. Both are measured in our own QC laboratory in accordance with GB/T 32992—2016 (Determination of gold adsorption capacity and rate of activated carbon), with the result reported on the batch COA. Test parameters follow the gold-recovery application standard; for water or air treatment carbons, the relevant application standards apply.

| Document | We Provide |
|---|---|
| COA per batch (IV, hardness, ash, moisture, mesh, test methods) | ✅ per exact lot |
| TDS (technical data sheet) | ✅ on request |
| Business license (export office + production plant) | ✅ both shown |
| English MSDS (16-section) + transport classification | ✅ UN 1362 Class 4.2 |
| Packing list, commercial invoice, CO, bill of lading | ✅ per shipment |
| K-value / R-value test report (GB/T 32992—2016) | ✅ reported on the batch COA |
3. Buying Checklist for CIP/CIL Buyers
- ☐ Confirm your process: CIP or CIL, target iodine, hardness, mesh
- ☐ Order a 3-grade sample pack (iodine 1000/1100/1200) with COA — test on your own liquor
- ☐ Verify COA test methods (GB/T or ASTM) — compare apples to apples
- ☐ Check fines / platelet content — high fines = carbon loss in circuit
- ☐ Lock spec tolerances and replacement terms in the contract
- ☐ Confirm packing for your inland route (moisture-proof jumbo bags, pallets)
- ☐ Arrange third-party inspection (SGS etc.) for container orders if needed
